Transitioning from my grassroots leadership as President of the Greater Northeast Keizer Neighborhood Association, My candidacy was driven by a commitment to bring a compassionate, unified voice to city governance while protecting the resources that support local families.
Drawing from My extensive advocacy work, Kunz prioritized tangible public safety and transportation improvements. Her platform heavily emphasized the need to protect pedestrians and cyclists through: Strategic sidewalk infill and the repair of existing walkways to ensure ADA compliance. Implementation of traffic-calming measures and reduced speed limits near school zones and residential corridors. Expansion of multi-use corridors and safe, separated bicycle lanes to improve connectivity, such as the routes connecting to Keizer Station.
A primary catalyst for her campaign was direct encouragement from community members seeking a transparent and reliable representative. Recognizing a growing sense of dysfunction and misaligned workflows within the city's leadership, Kunz aimed to foster a more unified council that collaborates effectively to retain Keizer’s small-city feel without stalling necessary progress.
I recognized the immediate need for accessible housing solutions that cater to families and vulnerable populations. She advocated for strategic zoning adjustments to encourage single-family housing over high-density apartment complexes, alongside the development of mixed-use buildings featuring commercial spaces on the ground floor and affordable housing above. Additionally, her platform supported the creation of transitional housing to respectfully and safely address the needs of the unhoused population
As a vocal defender of civic engagement, Kunz entered the race to ensure local neighborhood associations remained adequately funded, previously testifying against budget reductions that threatened their annual allocations. She sought to modernize city outreach by championing hybrid meeting formats to increase accessibility and supporting the distribution of multilingual civic materials in English, Spanish, Russian, and Ukrainian to ensure all residents have a voice in local decisions.
